Though it does have elements of pitch black humor, The Substance is not a comedy - and it's certainly not a musical - but Coralie Fargeat’s acclaimed body horror satire has nonetheless been nominated in the Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category at the Golden Globes.

In addition, stars Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley picked up nominations in their respective acting categories, and Fargeat scored a nom for Best Director - Motion Picture.

Elsewhere, Hugh Grant was nominated for his terrifying turn in Heretic, with Alien: Romulus and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice recognized in the recently-added Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, and is set to air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
