Today is 4/20, and whether you happen to partake in the annual festivities or not, be sure to have a look at the first trailer for a trippy new horror movie from director Ariel Vida, Trim Season.
Bethlehem Million (Sick, And Just Like That) stars as Emma, a 20-something drifter who hooks up with a group of fellow stoners from Los Angeles and travels up the coast to make some cash by trimming marijuana on a secluded farm in Northern California.
What begins as a fun little gathering soon turns into a terrifying nightmare when the gang discovers that the owner of the estate, Mona (Jane Badler), is keeping sinister secrets about the sticky icky they've been working with.
Vida was asked what drew her to the project during an interview with MovieWeb.com.
"One of my friends, very generously, sent a link to the rough cut of my first feature to Jane [Adler] and Sean E. [DeMott]. And when I got the script from them, I didn't actually know much at all about the true-crime element, the actual history of that area, let alone this fun, supernatural take they were doing.
So right away, it was extremely up my alley in terms of, I don't really like to shoot just indoors in like a mansion or basement. I want to be out in the mountains. I want to be in the forest. For these young trimmers going up into the woods and everything hitting the fan, to keep it short, I just can see unlimited potential of how to make that a weird, almost Guillermo del Toro-fantastical horror film. So I was excited to join."

Cut off from the rest of the world, they soon realize that Mona—the seemingly amiable owner of the estate—is harboring secrets darker than any of them could imagine. It becomes a race against time for Emma and her friends to escape the dense woods with their lives."
The cast also includes Alex Essoe (The Pope’s Exorcist, Midnight Mass), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Last Witch Hunter), Ally Ioannides (Synchronic, Into the Badlands), Juliette Kenn De Balinthazy (Evil), Ryan Donowho (Imaginary Heroes, Broken Flowers), Cory Hart (Fear the Walking Dead, Queen of the South), Marc Senter (The Lost, The Devil’s Carnival), and Paris Warner (Once I Was a Beehive, Not Cinderella’s Type).
Trim Season is set for release this June.
