AMC Networks shared a teaser for some of their upcoming AMC+ streaming shows last night during Super Bowl LVI Sunday, and along with footage from the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul, the middle third of the 11th and final season of The Walking Dead and anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, we got a first look at the small-screen adaptation of the late Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire.
The brief sneak peek comes in around the 26:00 mark, and features Louis de Pointe du Lac (Game of Thrones' Jacob Anderson) and his mentor/tormentor Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid).
This take on Louis is decribed as a former brothel owner looking for the chance to tell his "true tale." He's said to be “Creole, with eyes of brilliant green. His skin is smooth, as if sculpted from Ceylon ebony.” Daniel Malloy, meanwhile, will be "an award-winning investigative journalist who takes this second chance to report one of the most significant stories of his career. Daniel travels to the other side of the world to interview the 146-year-old vampire, Louis De Pointe Du Lac."
The show was given an eight episode order with an eye toward a 2022 debut, but no official premiere date has been announced. Rolin Jones is on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while Mark Johnson will executive produce along with Christopher Rice. Alan Taylor will direct the first two episodes.
Neil Jordan helmed the 1994 feature adaptation of Interview With The Vampire, which starred Brad Pitt as Louis, Tom Cruise as Lestat, and Christian Slater as Malloy.
