Cameras have been rolling on Midnight Mass writer/director Mike Flanagan's Netflix adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic tale The Fall of the House of Usher for a few weeks now, but the production just hit a pretty major snag after losing one of its lead actors.

The legendary Frank Langella (Dracula, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), who had been cast in the key role of Roderick Usher, has been fired following the findings of an investigation into on-set misconduct.

According to Deadline, investigators "determined that Langella had been involved in unacceptable conduct on set. As a result, a decision has been made to recast the role of Roderick Usher.” No further details were provided, but we're sure we'll learn more about the situation soon enough.

The limited series is said to be halfway through its production, so Langella's part will have to be completely reshot with a new actor. The show is reportedly “based on multiple works from Poe,” and will star Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House), Mary McDonnell (Scream 4), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), and Mark Hamill (Star Wars).

Wow! I think this is a good sign assuming the charges against him are true. For too long it seemed like people in Hollywood whether high profile directors or actors have gotten away with conduct no one else would be able to get away with, whether it is verbal abuse or other issues. It is a new day!
