We recently learned that Rob Zombie's upcoming feature take on classic '60s TV series The Munsters would be rated PG, and the notorious gore-hound filmmaker has now taken to Instagram to share an announcement that should make old-school horror fans very happy indeed.
Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, has joined the movie's cast. She won't be vamping it up in The Munsters, though, as Zombie reveals that she'll be playing Barbara Carr, "the #1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights."
Peterson rose to popularity portraying the iconic horror hostess character on Los Angeles television station KHJ-TV before going on to host Elvira's Movie Macabre, a weekly B movie presentation.

Jeff Daniel Phillips will play Herman Munster, with Sheri Moon Zombie on board as Lily Munster and Daniel Roebuck co-starring as Grandpa Munster. Richard Brake is playing Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Catherine Schell is playing Zoya Krupp the gypsy queen, and Jorge Garcia will portray a new character named Floop, who is described as “Dr. Wolfgang’s hunchback assistant and Herman Munster’s best buddy.”
The movie will be released by Universal Home Entertainment, and there's a lot of speculation that it'll be a Peacock exclusive. This has yet to be confirmed, but all episodes of the original series are currently available to watch on the streaming service.
