Relativity Media is making yet another go of rebooting The Crow, and this one might actually take flight.
THR (via CBM) reports that pre-production is already underway on the project, with cameras expected to roll this June. It actor Bill Skarsgård will take on the lead role of Eric Draven, with Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell director Rupert Sanders behind the camera. Edward R. Pressman and Malcolm Gray will co-produce.
James O’Barr's iconic comic series focused on a man named Eric Draven who, along with his fiancé, is brutally murdered by a gang of thugs. One year later, he is resurrected by a mystical force in the form of a crow, and sets out to exact his vengeance.
There is (understandably) a lot of scepticism surrounding this latest attempt to get another Crow movie off the ground, since so many earlier efforts have fallen by the wayside. Most recently, the likes of F. Javier Gutierrez’and Corin Hardy were attached to direct, with both Jason Momoa and Tom Hiddleston in line to play lead at. We even got to see some test footage of the former in full makeup last year.
While some fans are sure to be pleased with this news, others won't be so enthusiastic. Many feel Alex Proyas’ 1994 take on the material starring the late Brandon Lee did a perfect job of adapting the story and should be left alone.
