Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence, are set to helm a mysterious "monster movie" for Universal Pictures, and the project has now added another key cast member.

Scream's Melissa Barerra has already signed-on to re-team with the duo on the untitled film, and THR is reporting that Matilda the Musical breakout Alisha Weir will join her.

Plot details are still under wraps, but it sounds like this could be a revamped (no pun) take on an older pitch for Dracula's Daughter, which focused on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom ends up being the titular character.

Weir is set to play the blood-sucking youngster, while Barerra will play one of her kidnappers. The script was written by Stephen Sheilds, with revisions by Guy Busick.

While the studio declined to confirm what the movie's story will entail, a rep did state that the feature will be "in the vein of recent Universal films such as Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and the Nicolas Cage starrer Renfield in that it will be a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters.”

Weir, an up-and-coming Irish actress who beat stiff competition to land the lead in Matilda, was recently nominated for an IFTA award for Best Lead Actress, and will next be seen in will next be seen in Wicked Little Letters alongside Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley.
