The latest addition to the cast of Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's, aka Radio Silence, mysterious Universal "monster movie" is Emmy-nominated The Boys and Andor star Giancarlo Esposito.
No details on his role were provided, but he joins Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir, Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand, Kathryn Newton, Angus Cloud and Will Catlett.
While plot details remain under wraps, we have heard that the movie will be based on an older pitch for Dracula's Daughter, which focused on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom ends up being the titular character.
Weir is set to play the blood-sucking youngster, while Barerra will play one of her kidnappers.
The script was written by Stephen Sheilds, with revisions by Guy Busick.
While the studio declined to confirm what the movie's story will entail, a rep did state that the feature will be "in the vein of recent Universal films such as Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and the Nicolas Cage starrer Renfield in that it will be a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters.”
The movie is set for a theatrical release on April 19, 2024.
