Oscar-winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and Us, and the filmmaker returns this summer with another new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.
Now, the first trailer has been released and while it definitely leaves us with more questions than answers, it's clear Peele has plans to put a fresh spin on UFOs with the addition of horror elements. Aside from the undeniably creepy atmosphere in this desert setting, there are also hints that the director plans to continue exploring race in modern America, and this has all the makings of an absolute must-see.
Reuniting Peele with Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya (Black Panther), Nope's incredible cast also includes Keke Palmer (Hustlers) and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California "who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery."
Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock) and Brandon Perea (The OA), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Ian Cooper (Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The movie is set to be released in theaters on July 22, the same month Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Adam debut (though it will compete directly with neither).
