A24 has released an unsettling new trailer for Alex Garland's (Annihilation, Ex Machina) new horror film, Men, which stars Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley as a woman haunted by terrifying apparitions.
The synopsis tells us that Buckley plays a young woman named Harper who "goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband." Is the spirit of her ex pursuing her, or something far more sinister?
Well, this trailer makes things a lot clearer, as Harper is tormented by several different men, all wearing Rory Kinnear's face! Just in case that wasn't a subtle enough indication of the movie's theme, the tagline reads: "Yes, all #MEN." Is Kinnear playing some sort of shape-shifting demon? Is Harper suffering from a breakdown following her tragic loss? We're looking forward to finding out, because this looks really creepy.
Check out the trailer below along with a new poster, and let us know what you think. Men is set for a theatrical release on May 20, 2022.
In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper (Buckley) retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to have found a place to heal. But someone or something from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her. What begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s shape-shifting new horror film.”
