The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't exactly known for its dedication to scaring fans witless, but we have seen some elements of horror begin to creep in to big and small screen projects over the years in the likes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Moon Knight and even WandaVision to an extent.
Then, last year, Disney+ showcased the MCU's first ever full-on scare-fest in the Werewolf By Night Special Presentation.
Kevin Feige has confirmed that the darker corners of the MCU will be explored in more depth as we move into this next phase of the shared world, with Agatha: Coven of Chaos (or whatever it's called now), the Blade reboot, and more on the horizon (there have even been rumors of a Midnight Sons adaptation).
Now, Marvel Studios has released a montage of "scary" moments to mark this weekend's Halloween celebrations.
The video includes clips from projects you'd expect, such as In The Multiverse of Madness, Werewolf By Night and Moon Knight, along with shots from Thor: The Dark World, Ragnarök, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and... Ant-Man?
Hey, as Scott Lang points out, being swarmed by ants when you're the size of a G.I. Joe action figure would be pretty damn terrifying.
Check out the video below, and let us know how you plan to celebrate Halloween in the comments section.
Werewolf By Night in Color is now streaming on Disney+, and even if you've seen the black-and-white original, it's well worth another watch.
"On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster."
The critically-acclaimed Halloween Special stars Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell / the Werewolf; A monster hunter who has been afflicted with a curse; Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone, Ulysses Bloodstone's estranged daughter who dislikes her family's tradition of hunting monsters; Harriet Sansom Harris as Verussa Bloodstone, Ulysses's widow and Elsa's stepmother who leads the secret group of monster hunters.
Also appearing as the additional monster hunters are Kirk R. Thatcher as Jovan, Eugenie Bondurant as Azarel, Leonardo Nam as Liorn, and Daniel J. Watts as Barasso. Al Hamacher appears as Billy Swan, the Bloodstones' servant; and Carey Jones provides the motion-capture of Ted / Man-Thing.
