Yellow Veil Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Lux Æterna, the latest film from purveyor of cinematic insanity Gaspar Noé.
The Irreversible director has clearly lost none of his power to unsettle, as this teaser is an all-out assault on the senses (it even comes with a warning that the flashing lights could induce seizures).
We're not really sure what to make of Lux Æterna, but the plot is said to follow Béatrice Dalle (Betty Blue) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Nymphomaniac) as a director and actress, respectively, working on a horror film about witches being burned at the stake. Tension between the two women and the rest of the crew begins to mount as the set is thrown into utter chaos.
That's about all we have to go on, but Noe's work is always worth watching... as long as you have the stomach for it!
Check out the trailer below along with a poster, and let us know what you think.
The film had its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and was later selected for the Tribeca Film Festival prior to cancellation due to the pandemic. It's now set to open in New York on May 6th and Los Angeles on May 13, with a national rollout to follow.
