We first learned that Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Jamie Foxx had signed on to star in a new Netflix horror comedy called Day Shift back in 2020, and the streamer has now unveiled a first-look image as part of its summer slate announcement.
Foxx's character, shown here with a vamp-hand on his shoulder, is described as "a hard-working blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year old daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires."

The film was helmed by first-time feature director JJ Perry, who has previously served as second unit director and stunt coordinator on Fast & Furious 9, The Fate of the Furious, Bloodshot, and the John Wick movies. Chad Stahelski (John Wick) and Jason Spitz are producing for 87Eleven Entertainment, along with Shaun Redick (BlackKklansman) and Yvette Yates Redick (Malicious) for Impossible Dream Entertainment.
Tyler Tice wrote the original script, which won the Slamdance Writing Competition Grand Prize back in 2017. Revisions were handled by Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Army of the Dead).
Day Shift is set to hit Netflix on August 12.
