The Black Phone, Ethan Hawke's new psychological thriller from Blumhouse, landed on digital last week and is now available on Blu-ray. The fine folks over at Unviersal Pictures Home Entertainment were kind enough to share copies of the film on Blu-ray for three lucky Fear HQ users!
Ethan Hawke, who has nominated for an Academy Award for his performances in Boyhood (2014), Before Midnight (2013), Before Sunset (2004), and raining Day (2001), stars in a new psychological thriller that was produced by Blumhouse and directed by the same man responsible for Sinister and Doctor Strange, Scott Derrickson. In this role, Hawke plays one of the most unsettling characters of his entire career.
The screenplay for the film was written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange, Sinister franchise), and it was inspired by Joe Hill's award-winning short story "20th Century Ghosts," which was included in Hill's New York Times best-selling novel.
Bonus features on the Blu-ray include a digital copy of The Black Phone, deleted scenes, Ethan Hawk's Evil Turn, behind-the-scenes featurette, "Shadowprowler" short film by Scott Derrickson, feature commentary by producer/co-writer/director Scott Derrickson, and more!

Finney Shaw, a 13-year-old boy who is reserved but bright, is kidnapped by a psychopath named Hawke and held captive in a basement that is soundproof. Screaming is of little help in this environment. Finney finds out that he is able to hear the voices of the killer's previous victims when a phone that was previously disconnected and mounted on the wall begins to ring. They are adamant about protecting Finney from the same fate that befell them and do everything in their power to achieve this goal.
