A new horror/thriller with science fiction elements dropped on VOD a week ago titled The Institute from Headless Films. The thrilling aspects of the movie induce nail-biting tension, and are designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as the titular Institute is slowly exposed and the horrifying and alien nature the truth holds is revealed.

In The Institute, there are several couples who wish to have children but are unable, whether it be due to age, gender, or additional reasons. The story is told from the perspective of a young couple unable to birth a child despite the will to do so.

When doctors fail the couple, the two turn to experimental treatment at a secluded facility. Once pshycological side effects begin to take over the couple, it's time to learn the truth about The Institute.

The Institute features a minimal cast, which is something that was certain to be helpful during the filming at the height of the pandemic. The movie stars Ignacyo Matynia, Victorya Brandart, Mark Lobene, Joy Donze, Claire McClain, Louisa Bradshaw, Jarred Harper as well as John Easterlin.

To learn more about the movie, we spoke with the husband-and-wife team of producer Chelsea Roth and writer/director Hamza Zaman. We learned a lot about the film, including details on the monster prosthetics and the alien CGI.

Do you think you'll be checking out The Institute based on the synopsis and poster above? We've included our full video chat below, so be sure to check it out and let us know your thoughts in the usual spot!

The film production company Headless Films recently released the horror/thriller movie The Institute and I was excited to have them on my show to dig into the film a bit further, speaking directly with the husband and wife movie creators Hamza Zaman and Chelsea Roth.

I probed for some more info on The Institute, talking about the initial conception of the film and how they chose to work on it together as well as the prosthetic process and what other potential designs there could have been. Since this was filmed at the height of COVID we go into details about the pandemic restrictions, and how they were initially potentially included in the flick.

We learn that their child appears in the film at two weeks old in a short sequence and also share some small easter eggs/references viewers may not pick up on. In the end, things get a little spoilery when we talk about some fun CGI sequences and how long it took to get the scene perfect. Enjoy the chat!

The Institute is currently available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital.
