When the trades announced that a third Terrifier movie was in the works, they mentioned that Lauren LaVera was expected to reprise her role from the second instalment, and we now have confirmation that fan-favorite final girl, Sienna, will indeed be back to stand in Art the Clown's way when he embarks on his latest killing spree.
Towards the end of Terrifier 2, Sienna was actually killed by the demonic mime, but she was somehow resurrected as an "angel" of light and ultimately managed to put the clown down (temporarily, of course).
While chatting to Deadline, LaVera revealed that she's looking forward to returning to the franchise and continuing to develop her character.
"Above all else, I really love this character. We’ve been discussing what the character’s mindset is after everything she went through in the last movie. Damien’s really fun to work with and he’s always been open to improvisation on set."
The actress also said that she fully embraces the term "Scream Queen."
"I think it’s pretty badass. I mean that’s just me. I know certain people might have different opinions about that title but I think it’s pretty cool. I love horror. I’ve always been a horror enthusiast, and I love women in horror. I think they’re some of the most complex, interesting, layered characters, and that is true tenfold for Sienna, in my opinion. So, yeah, I love the title, and I would love to continue to have that title in the future."
In the same interview, director Damien Leone spoke about upping the ante when it comes to the threequel's gore levels.
"I’m trying to make this one PG… Not. No, of course, everything has to be taken to the next level, and Part 3 is going to be no different. My goal is always to push the envelope as far as I can but maintaining some level of sort of mass accessibility. I don’t want to turn off the audience too much with the gore, but I feel like I could open the door a little wider and show them things that they don’t typically see in your average horror movie, or even your average slasher film. So, there are scenes in this one that push it further."
Terrifier 3 slices its way into theaters just in time for next Halloween. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
