The social media embargo for Hulu's upcoming Hellraiser reboot has lifted and the movie is receiving widespread critical acclaim thus far.

There had been some concern that the franchise, which has been running on fumes for a while now, might struggle to resonate with horror fans. Instead, it sounds like this is a pitch-perfect take on the property that restores it to its former glory after a lot of underwhelming entries over the years. Oh, and the Cenobites? They sound suitably terrifying.

Hulu is proving to be a great place for some of the properties that Disney inherited from 20th Century Fox during the Disney/Fox merger as Prey (a reboot of the Predator series) was also a huge hit.

Hellraiser, a reimagining of Clive Barker’s 1987 horror classic from director David Bruckner, debuts exclusively on Hulu on October 7 as part of the streamer's annual "Huluween" celebration of fright-filled content.

In the all-new Hellraiser, a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

Well this is certainly good to hear…Every single sequel to the original movie just became worse and worse to the point of being borderline nonsensical…If this is at least on par with the original, or even the second movie, I’ll be happy…
