WEDNESDAY: Netflix Sets A Premiere Date For Tim Burton's Comedy-Horror Series

Tim Burton's comedy-horror series Wednesday, a spinoff of The Addams Family, is set to premiere on Netflix on November 23rd. Check out the new promotional poster and get ready for more details at Tudum.

Ahead of Tudum 2022, Netflix has announced that Tim Burton's comedy-horror series Wednesday will premiere on the streaming service on November 23, 2022. Unfortunately, this means the series won't be with us around Halloween which is the time many associate The Addams Family with. However, November 23rd is fittingly a Wednesday, a playful joke on the series name that many had hoped Netflix would capitalize on.

Wednesday is a coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy based on the character Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family. The series stars Jenna Ortega (Scream) as the titular teenage character.

The logline for the series reads:

“From the imagination of Tim Burton, ‘Wednesday’ is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

Accompanying the premiere date announcement is a brand new promotional poster featuring an deadpanned Wednesday Addams front-and-center in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Besides a few very intriguing teaser trailers, Netflix has been keeping much of Wednesday a secret. We did get a new teaser earlier this week which welcomed us to Nevermore Academy, the school Wednesday Addams will be attending which welcomes students from all walks of life... and death. With Tudum 2022 kicking off tomorrow, it's possible that we could get more details and maybe even another trailer for Wednesday this weekend.

Joining Jenna Ortega is a incredibly talented cast that stars Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Ocean's Twelve) as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman (Narcos) as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time) as Pugsley Addams, and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as Principal Larissa Weems. Christina Ricci, who portrayed Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film The Addams Family, is also part of the project although her role remains a mystery.

Wednesday marks the television directing debut of Tim Burton. He's also serving as executive producer alongside Jonathan Glickman, Andrew Mittman, Kayla Alpert, Gail Berman, Steve Stark, and Kevin Miserocchi. Al Gough and Miles MIllar (Smallville, Into the Badlands) are on board as showrunners.

While we've still got a few months to go, we should start to see even more marketing for the highly anticipated series as we get closer to its debut. Be sure to check back this weekend for any new details we learn from Tudum.
