Netflix debuted the first trailer for The Watcher over the weekend during the Tudum fan-event, and it finds Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale in a state of near-constant paranoia after being targetted by a mysterious stalker.

The seven-episode limited series follows Dean (Cannavale) and Nora Brannock (Watts) as they move into their dream home in the idyllic suburb of Westfield, N. J., but when they begin to receive ominous letters from someone calling themselves “The Watcher,” they soon learn that their new neighbourhood is not quite so welcoming.

Though it may seem hard to believe after watching this trailer, The Watcher is actually based on terrifying true events - although we're sure Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) took some creative liberties here.

The Watcher also stars Mia Farrow, Terry Kinney, Richard Kind, Margo Martindale, Noma Dumezweni, Joe Mantello and Jennifer Coolidge. The series is co-created and executive produced by Murphy and Ian Brennan, with Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Bryan Unkeless, Eric Newman, Paris Barclay, Naomi Watts, Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost and Scoop Wasserstein serving as executive producers.

The show is set to premiere on October 13.
