AMC Networks has dropped a gripping new trailer for Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City, revealing rising tensions, savage new villains, and a fight for control over Manhattan’s decaying remains. The new season premieres Sunday, May 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan return as the iconic duo, Negan and Maggie, whose uneasy alliance seems ready to fracture under the weight of ambition, betrayal, and survival. This season, the two aren’t just facing walkers—they’re squaring off against each other. Check out the action filled trailer below:
The trailer begins with a haunting voiceover and sets the mood with a chilling rendition of Manhattan by Rodgers & Hart. “Why do you want to bring back Manhattan?” Maggie asks. The answer from Perlie Armstrong is simple: “We’ve lost too much.”
From there, things only get darker. Negan, now wielding a new kind of influence, addresses a church congregation, including the Dama: “I hear this island’s got no laws. The question is—are you going to keep it that way?” As Radio City Music Hall flickers to life in the background, his voice hardens: “You see, power equals power. So if you ain’t with us… I guess you’re in for a bit of a shock.”
We get glimpses of violent brawls, looming threats, and even a bear attack. Negan and Maggie reunite, battle the undead, and cross paths with Bruegel—a ruthless new villain and gang leader who controls a violent operation in the city’s underworld. “The show’s about to start,” Negan tells Maggie. “We’ve got work to do.”
This season comes with promises of conflict with high-stakes, political games, and survival choices that cut deep. Negan and Maggie’s volatile history continues to shape their future, forcing them to decide what they’re willing to risk—and who they’re willing to become.
Joining Cohan and Morgan this season are Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Mahina Anne Marie Napoleon, Lisa Emery, Logan Kim, Dascha Polanco, and Kim Coates.
The show is helmed by showrunner and executive producer Eli Jorné, alongside Scott M. Gimple, Cohan, Morgan, Brian Bockrath, Michael Satrazemis, and Colin Walsh.
With Season 2, Dead City is set to add even more stories and thrills along with zombie slaying carnage to The Walking Dead Universe once again. Which leads us to the haunting question: who is it that truly rules the zombie apocalypse?
