A new trailer for The Last of Us is expected to debut during the show's panel at CCXP Brazil tomorrow, and to build anticipation, HBO Max has shared a series of character posters for the upcoming Naughty Dog video game adaptation.

These banners give us new looks at the likes of Joel, Ellie and Bill, as well as first official glimpses of supporting players such as Joel's brother Tommy, Ellie's pal Riley, Firefly leader Marlene, and brothers Sam and Henry.

If you've played the first game, you'll know that a lot of these guys only had fairly minor parts in the story, but at least a few of their roles are expected to be significantly expanded for the series.

Check out the posters below, and keep an eye out for that new trailer at some point tomorrow.

The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the game's creator Neil Druckmann are writing and executive producing the show. The first season will adapt the events of the original game, but is also expected to include elements of the sequel. Druckmann recently confirmed that the series will take some liberties with the story.

The first season will consist of 10 episodes, and is set to hit our screens on January 15.

It is just a matter of times before these videogames become part of a shared universe. I am surprised it has not happened already. I would not be surprised to see a crossover film with the Last of us and fallout. I wish they would do it with Lara Croft and Uncharted.
