The fifth and final season of Netflix's Stranger Things has been filming for a while now (though it did take a lengthy hiatus during the Hollywood strikes), but it sounds like it's nowhere close to wrapping.

Star Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) was a guest on The Jonathan Ross show, and revealed that there's still nine months of shooting to go. This means it will likely be well into 2025 (maybe even early 2026) before it hits our screens.

As for how the mega-popular sci-fi/horror drama is going to finish up, Brown says the cast still haven't been given the series finale script, but she does know her own character's fate.

"Nope, we haven't read any scripts yet," she revealed while chatting to Collider. "I know what happens to my character but I don't know what happens to others. So I think, yeah, they're holding it back until we're all together and we can all cry and be sad together."

There's a lot of speculation that Eleven will be killed off in the finale, and while it's certainly possible, we'd bet on a different main character meeting their maker.

Season 5 of Stranger Things is expected to consist of eight episodes, with the first confirmed to be titled "The Crawl". No premiere date has been announced.

Filming recently resumed after the strikes were resolved, and you can check out a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast below.

In the season 4 finale, Eleven and her friends managed to defeat the evil entity known as Vecna, but at great cost. Eddie Munson was killed, and Max Mayfield was left blind, broken and in a coma.

Vecna - who was ultimately revealed to be the deranged Henry Creel - was vanquished, but It was only a temporary victory, as the concluding moments of the episode confirmed that dark forces in the Upside-down are amassing for what will almost certainly be a massive final battle.

Are you up to date with Stranger Things? If so, what do you hope to see from this final season?
