As if the wait hasn't been long enough, Netflix is splitting up its final season of Stranger Things. At Tudum 2025, the streamer finally announced when Season 5 of its hit series will premiere. And sadly, the rumors are true.

Stranger Things Season 5 will release in three parts. The first four episodes of the season will drop on November 26th, followed by another three on Christmas (December 25th). The series finale will release on New Year's Eve. Each release will come at 5:00 p.m. PST.

In addition to announcing a premiere date, Netflix also revealed the first teaser trailer for its final season. We've waited long enough, so let's get right into it.

The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.

Yes, most of the trailer was comprised of recap footage from past seasons, but the last 40 seconds or so tease what looks to be an intense finale. The trailer teased all the familiar faces, including Max Mayfield, who was basically broken apart and blinded in the last season. We were unsure what her fate would be heading into Season 5, but we do see a clip of her in the hospital with Lucas Sinclair sitting by her bedside, so I do figure she'll play somewhat into the narrative. It also looks like the story should come full circle with Will, who looks to have a pivotal role in the season, which feels like solid closure given he was the one who went missing originally, all the way back in the first season, and was then seemingly cast aside in later seasons.

The big mystery heading into the final season has to do with the massive portal we saw Vecna open at the end of Season 4 and, of course, the origins of the Upside Down.

If you recall, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer had previously written a 25-page document for Netflix that delves into the mythology of this alternate dimension, and it sounds like Season 5 will finally deliver some answers that fans are so desperately craving.

“The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5,” Ross Duffer previously teased. “And that’s really going to affect what Season 5 is about.”

Thankfully, we only have to wait a few more months. Stranger Things Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on November 26th.
