Despite the perception that the show has become a little stale and played out for a lot of fans, the fourth season of Netflix's Stranger Things has proven that the nostalgia-driven horror/sci-fi drama is more popular than ever.

Though it hasn't quite managed to top mighty South Korean phenomenon Squid Game, Stranger Things Season 4, Part 1 has now become the streamer's most-watched English language series of all time.

“Stranger Things 4 continues to break records as it turns the world upside down. In the third week, the Hawkins crew pulled in an additional 159.24M hours viewed. The series has also cemented itself as the Most Popular English-language TV series on Netflix with an astounding 781.04M hours viewed, the first English language series to do so in this period of time.”

The official press release adds that seasons 1 to 3 held steady with 51.42M hours viewed (Season 2), 50.29M hours viewed (Season 1) and 47.6M hours viewed (Season 3).

While season 3 was seen as something of a low point for the show overall (among critics, at least), these latest episodes were a lot more positively received. Episode 7 ended with a major plot twist (you can find all the spoilery details here), so anticipation for the final, feature-length installments of season 4 arriving on July 1 is at an all-time high.
