STRANGER THINGS Producer Says Eddie Munson Season 5 Return Is "Highly Unlikely"

Season 4 of Stranger Things introduced one of the show's most popular characters in metal-head Eddie Munson, but producer Shawn Levy doesn't think we'll be seeing the loveable D&D player again...

Stranger Things has made something of a habit of introducing likeable characters only to kill them off in the same season, but fans really wanted Eddie Munson to stick around beyond the recent fourth season.

Unfortunately, the heroic metal-head lost his life after causing a distraction that allowed his friends to infiltrate Vecna's lair - but not before laying down an epic "Master of Puppets" guitar solo and going out like an absolute boss.

Despite Eddie untimely demise, some viewers remain hopeful that he could somehow make his return in the upcoming fifth season (even via flashback), but it doesn't sound like it's on the cards.

"A lot of people can't even handle the thought of a season 5 without some excuse for Eddie presence," producer Shawn Levy tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Highly unlikely, highly unlikely. But we hear you, world, we know. You're obsessed with Eddie – so are we."

This won't come as a surprise to most, but there's no denying how great a character Eddie was. From what we understand, the final season of Stranger Things will ease back on the new faces, which probably means we can expect to bid farewell to at least one or two of the beloved regulars!

Eddie was pretty damned awesome.

The Slayer solo, the sacrifice, the complete acceptance of his own nerdiness! Dude was the man. Unequivocally himself, which is so much more than most people today. Awesome character and I may or may not have gotten a little choked up when Dusty talked to his uncle at the end of that final episode.
