RESIDENT EVIL Netflix Series Trailer Promises A More Faithful, Much Scarier Adaptation

Netflix has finally released a teaser trailer for its upcoming Resident Evil series, and it's fair to say that this looks like a more faithful, and much scarier adaptation than the recent movie.

Netflix’s Resident Evil series is set to debut globally on on July 14, 2022, and the streamer has finally released a teaser trailer featuring some pretty intense footage.

Though it remains to be seen how well this show will adapt the iconic video games, based on what we see here, we're in for a much more faithful - not to mention scarier - take on the material than the previous big-screen adaptations.

The full cast of the live-action series was revealed during "Geeked Week," with Lance Reddick (John Wick, The Wire, Godzilla Vs. Kong for about 2 seconds) set to play the villainous Albert Wesker, who was introduced in the very first game before going on to become one of the franchise primary antagonists. He'll be joined by Ella Balinska (Charlie's Angels), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Paola Núñez (The Purge) in undisclosed roles.

The Netflix series will tell its new story across two timelines. In the first, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.
The second, more than a decade into the future sees less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than 6 billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father and herself — continue to haunt her.

Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb has been enlisted to oversee the first season, which will run for 8 episodes.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," Dabb said back when the series was first announced. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

@tmeadows34 - Not really a fan of zombie horror, but I thought it looked good.
