For decades, the successful low-to-mid budget horror production company Full Moon Features has been releasing movies, and their latest franchise is titled Piranha Women.
Charles Band started heading up Full Moon Features 34 years ago in 1988 and quickly found success with the brand when the Puppet Master franchise kicked off in 1989. With many other low-budget horror successes under their belt such as Castle Freak, Trancers, and Subspecies, Band continued to push forward with the genre.
Fast forward to June 2022, and even with only half a calendar year left, the company has a long horror slate planned for the months ahead. Piranha Women being the current focus, Full Moon Features is continuing to utilize a mix of some cinematic effects in conjunction with the practical ones that made their older flicks such as Puppet Master so beloved.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Band about Puppet Master, Re-Animator, and many more of his past films, so check that out in our chat below while you scroll on to read more about Piranha Women.
The second episode of Piranha Women is yet to be released, but the first is enough of a concept piece to understand whether this is a film for you or not. While the movie is quite mature, we have only included the clean version of the trailer here.
Without going into too many raunchy details, it's best to say that one of the biggest B-movie aspects is that it's comparable to Teeth, just not quite the same. Imagine higher body parts, and you've nailed it!
In Piranha Women, sick women see a doctor that does experimental treatments on them which ultimately "heal" them by turning them into flesh eating monsters that require warmth and water to survive. Oh yeah, and human flesh, of course.
Check out the trailer below to see what we're talking about. Afterwards, make sure to let us know if you'll be tuning in for this one and share your take in the comments section!
When Richard James becomes suspicious of his sick girlfriend's new experimental medical treatment, he grows even more concerned when she suddenly vanishes. In his frantic search for her, he discovers a secret society of beautiful women, all medically altered by the mysterious Dr Sinclair. They're something less than human. They're PIRANHA WOMEN!
Piranha Women Part 1 is now available on the Full Moon Features app and will hit Amazon Prime later this week.
