David Cronenberg's disturbing '80s chiller, Dead Ringers, is getting a smalls-screen update via a new six-part Prime Video miniseries, and the first teaser promo is now online.

Rachel Weisz takes on the dual role of twin surgeons Beverly and Elliot Mantle (played by Jeremy Irons in the film), who gradually start to slip into madness when one of them begins to abuse prescription drugs.

This is described as a "modern retelling" of the story, so it may make a few changes, but the teaser and synopsis certainly suggest that the series will be a pretty faithful adaptation.

“A modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons, Dead Ringers will feature Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries of medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.”
