BUFFY Star Sarah Michelle Gellar Thinks Zendaya Should Take Over As The Iconic Vampire Slayer

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and star Sarah Michelle Gellar has named Zendaya (Dune, Spider-Man: No Way Home) as the actress she'd most like to see take over the role.

It's been a while since we heard anything about that Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot that was announced back in 2018, but if a revival of the beloved TV series is on the cards, star Sarah Michelle Gellar has someone in mind to take over as the stake-wielding hero.

While being interviewed for a new book titled Into Every Generation a Slayer Is Born: How Buffy Staked Our Hearts, Gellar was asked who she'd most like to see take up the mantle of the Slayer next. “I vote Zendaya,” she told author Evan Ross Katz, while costar Julie Benz echoed, "That would be amazing."

With roles in the likes of Dune and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young stars in Hollywood. But she also leads HBO's Euphoria, so there is always a chance she could be temped to sign on for a Buffy reboot/continuation if the script was right.

This is just wishful thinking for now, of course, as we don't even know if the new Buffy show is still in-development. Monica Owusu-Breen was hired as a writer in 2018, but her below Tweet is pretty much the last update we've had on the project.

Do you think Zendaya would be a good pick to play a new take on The Slayer? Drop us a comment down below.
