Get your lucky charms ready, because a new Leprechaun movie might be just around the corner.
On the heels of yesterday's The Blair Witch Project revival news, Bloody Disgusting has heard that Lionsgate is also looking to relaunch the Leprechaun franchise, and is "actively seeking out pitches for the next Leprechaun movie."
This would the ninth instalment in the horror comedy franchise, which got progressively sillier (not necessarily in a bad way) as it progressed. The last movie, the risible WWE-produced Leprechaun Origins, attempted to take the premise more seriously to disastrous effect, so here's hoping this latest outing for the vicious little bastard is able to recapture the tone of the original.
It sounds like things are only in the very early stages of development, but the studio might want to reach out to Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo: The Genetic Opera, Spiral: From the Book of Saw), who has been campaigning to take the helm of the next movie for quite some time now if his reaction to this news is any indication.
