The Guest 2 is officially here... kinda!
Last summer, writer Simon Barrett revealed that a sequel to Adam Wingard's strange, pulpy sci-fi thriller/comedy was "concretely happening," but it didn't sound like it was going to be what any of us expected.
"It is not a feature film or a comic book, because I think that’s what people would expect us to do. And I think that’s the thing that no one actually wants us to do, because I think if we actually made a feature film version of The Guest 2, or realistically, the graphic novel version would just be a cheaper version of trying to achieve kind of the same thing narratively."
Now, Wingard has revealed that his follow-up will actually take the form of a movie soundtrack! Curated by the filmmaker, the Lakeshore Records release will feature music by eleven bands including Steve Moore, OGRE Sound, Lone Runner, Ghost Cop, Xander Harris, and Wingard himself
According to Dread Central, "through song titles, musical tones, and a stunning album cover illustration, we learn what became of David, Anna, Brendan, and Major Carver after the events of The Guest."
The album is out digitally today with a vinyl edition is forthcoming, and you can sample two tracks below along with the awesome cover art.
