Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser trailer and poster for Scream 6 (now officially known as Scream VI), and it looks like the latest incarnation of iconic serial killer Ghostface has tracked the survivors of the last movie to New York City.

The footage doesn't reveal very much, but we do see Sam, Tara and Mindy riding the subway when several individuals wearing Ghostface costumes close in around them. One of the potential murderers grabs Mindy by the throat, and we cut to the logo.

This will be the first instalment of the long-running horror franchise not to feature lead character Sidney Prescott (you can check out a statement from Neve Campbell here), but Courteney Cox is expected to return as Gale Weathers. David Arquette will not reprise the role of Dewey Riley... for obvious reasons!

Check out the teaser and poster below, along with an updated synopsis.

Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera ("Sam Carpenter"), Jasmin Savoy Brown ("Mindy Meeks-Martin"), Mason Gooding ("Chad Meeks-Martin"), Jenna Ortega ("Tara Carpenter"), Hayden Panettiere ("Kirby Reed"), and Courtney Cox ("Gale Weathers") return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra and Samara Weaving.

oh man! So they took a major part of the charm from the original series and threw into the soulless setting of a steel jungle that only thinks it has charm?

Can't wait for this.
