If sappy rom-com holiday movies aren't your thing, RJE Films and Shudder have got you covered with the upcoming blood-soaked horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas.

Written and directed by Joe Begos, Christmas Bloody Christmas is a horrifying holiday slasher about a robotic Santa Claus that malfunctions and goes on a rampant killing spree.

Christmas Bloody Christmas is scheduled to debut in theaters and on the Shudder premium streaming service on December 9, 2022. With less than a month to go, we've got our first trailer for the film along with the official synopsis.

Appropriately set to a hardcore version of "Carol of the Bells," the trailer introduces Robo Santa Plus for the upcoming holiday season. Designed by the U.S. Defense Department, Robo Santa Plus is built with the most cutting edge robot technology, and we get a first-hand look at just how deadly $1 trillion can be.

It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms just wants to get drunk and party until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated. Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon-drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal, and violence, ultimately forcing Tori into a blood-splattered battle for survival against the ruthless heavy metal Saint Nick himself.

“Since I was a young kid I’ve dreamed of making both a crazy holiday horror movie unlike any other and a no-holds-barred killer robot flick, but never imagined I could make them the same movie,” said Begos. “The maniacs at RLJE Films and Shudder have allowed this fantasy to play out and greenlit this neon-soaked robot fever dream, championing the choice to shoot on film and build a real-deal robot in 2022. This truly is the place to be making cool and original filmmaker-driven genre films that, frankly, nobody else has the balls to finance.”

Christmas Bloody Christmas stars Riley Dandy as Tori, Sam Delich as Robbie, Jonah Ray Rodrigues as Jay, Dora Madison, Jeremy Gardner as Officer Smith, with Jeff Daniel Phillips as Sheriff Monroe, and Abraham Benrubi as Santa.

This is definitely isn't your classic Christmas tale, but we've seen more and more studios take creative liberties with the holiday. For those more into action-packed Christmas flicks, Universal Pictures is set to release Violent Night in theaters on December 2nd. The film stars David Harbour as Kris Kringle as he attempts to save a family being held hostage by a team of mercenaries.
