Horror-comedy icons Anna Faris and Regina Hall are officially set to reunite in the long-awaited Scary Movie 6!
After years away from the franchise, the fan-favorite duo will once again step into the roles of Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, delivering the slapstick antics and razor-sharp banter that made them franchise staples.
Their comeback marks a major victory for longtime fans eager to see the franchise return to its classic, over-the-top roots.
In a statement to Deadline, Hall and Faris shared, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon—three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.)”
Also making their return to the franchise after a lengthy hiatus, Scary Movie creators Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans are reuniting to pen an all-new original script, teaming up with longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez.
Their return is a game-changer for the franchise, as the first two Wayans-led installments are still hailed as the series’ comedic high point. With their signature humor back in play, fans can expect a sharp, fearless revival of the parody genre that takes aim at the biggest horror hits of the past twenty years.
Currently in pre-production, Scary Movie 6 is slated to begin filming in October under the direction of Michael Tiddes, best known for his work on the A Haunted House films.
The comedy-horror sequel is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical debut on June 12, 2026, with Paramount set to bring the long-awaited installment to the big screen.
With Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprising their beloved roles, the Wayans brothers back in the writer’s seat, and a release date locked in, Scary Movie 6 is poised to be one of the most buzzworthy comedy events of the decade.
The horror genre is currently leaning heavily on revivals, remakes, and legacy sequels.
Beyond Scary Movie, recent and upcoming projects include fresh takes on Final Destination, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Wolf Man, Scream, and Evil Dead. So far in 2025, horror has accounted for 17% of North American box office revenue, a striking increase from just 4% a decade ago.
Defying the very notion of good taste, Scary Movie out-parodies the pop culture parodies with a no-holds barred assault on the most popular images and talked-about moments from recent films, television and commercials. The film boldly fires barbs at the classic scenes from Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Blair Witch Project, then goes on to mock a whole myriad of teen movie clichés, no matter the genre.
