The first trailer for upcoming horror prequel Orphan: First Kill is now online, as we turn the clock back and discover the origins of "child" serial killer, Esther.
The 2009 original was just another in a long line of creepy kid movies, but stood out for its third act twist which revealed that the murderous nipper in question was actually a full-grown woman with a hormone disorder.
Talented actress Isabelle Fuhrman did a pretty good job of passing as a child at the time, but we're not so sure she pulls off an even younger version of Esther, who is only supposed to be 9-years-old here!
Even so, these movies are not supposed to be taken entirely seriously, and fans of the first Orphan should certainly find some preposterous fun to be had with First Kill when it releases on Paramount+ on August 19.
"Esther's terrifying saga continues in this thrilling prequel to the original and shocking horror hit, Orphan," reads the synopsis. "After orchestrating a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Esther travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. Yet, an unexpected twist arises that pits her against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous "child" at any cost."
