An official website for Robert Eggers' Nosferatu remake is now live, and while it's a bit bare bones at the moment, it does give us a first look at the movie's title treatment along with a brief story synopsis.
"Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him."
Pretty much what we expected, then!
Eggers will likely make a few stylistic changes, but we don't anticipate the filmmaker altering the classic tale to any significant degree.
Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard and Nicholas Hoult will play the main roles, with Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor Johnson and regular Eggers collaborator Willem Dafoe recently joining the cast.
Interestingly, Johnson's name is listed first on the site cast list, which would seem to suggest he'll have a bigger role than we realized.
The Northman star Anya Taylor-Joy was originally in line for the female lead, but was forced to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Harry Styles was also said to have read for the role of Hutter. No release date has been announced, but production is currently underway.
