While we'll still have to wait a little longer for another full-length trailer, it seems Universal is planning to ramp up promotion for Jordan Peele's next directorial venture, Nope, during the NBA Playoffs, and they've kickstarted things with a brand new spot featuring 3x NBA Champion and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
There isn't any footage from the film in the 30-second spot, but it's said to be "inspired by one of the most terrifying moments from Peele's new film," so it should give us some idea of what to expect this coming summer.
With Universal heavily promoting both Nope and Jurassic World: Dominion during the first ronud of the playoffs, it shouldn't be too long before we get new trailers for both, especially with May swiftly approaching.
Also, don't be surprised to see Disney get in on the action soon, possibly with the first look at Thor: Love and Thunder during one of their ABC or ESPN broadcasts. We don't know anything for certain, but Game 1 between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets tomorrow afternoon - the biggest game of the weekend - seems like a nice place for a trailer debut, doesn't it?
Nope is slated to hit theaters on July 22.
“What’s a bad miracle?”
Oscar® winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.
The film reunites Peele with Oscar® winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar® nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
Nope, which co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), is written and directed by Jordan Peele and is produced by Ian Cooper (Us, Candyman) and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw Productions. The film will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide.
