Following a brief teaser back in February, Screen Media has released a full trailer for Monstrous, which stars Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets, The Addams Family) as a woman who defend her young son from a demonic entity that emerges from a lake on their property.

Directed by Chris Siverston (The Lost, All Cheerleaders Die, I Know Who Killed Me), the movie is set for a limited theatrical run before landing On Demand on May 13, 2022.

The trailer suggests a bit of a tonal clash, so we're not too sure what to make of Monstrous just yet. Ricci's involvement has certainly piqued our interest, however.

Check out the trailer below along with a new poster, and let us know what you think.

“Laura, traumatized by an abusive relationship, finally runs away from her former husband with her seven-year-old son Cody," reads the synopsis. "But in their new, idyllic and remote sanctuary, they find they have another, bigger and more terrifying monster to deal with…one that will test both their mental health issues to the limit.”

For some reason, this film reminds me of the Babadook.
