The long-awaited (well, depending on who you ask) sequel to The Meg, officially titled Meg 2: The Trench, is now filming in The UK, and three new cast members have joined the production.

THR reports that Sienna Guillory (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Skyler Samuels (The Gifted), and Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Snowfall) have been cast in supporting roles. Peris-Mencheta will play the villain, "a hard-edged mercenary," Guillory is the head of an applied sciences division, while Samuels is "an adventure-loving member of the submarine crew."

Of course, Jason Statham will reprise the role of rescue diver/prehistoric fish killer Jonas Taylor, along with fellow surviving Mana One crew members Cliff Curtis, Sophia Cai and Page Kennedy. The first movie's writing team (yes, it was a group effort) of Jon and Erich Hoeber and Dean Georgaris penned the script.

Ben Wheatley, who is best known for disturbing/surreal movies such as Kill List and High Rise, is directing. It's quite the departure for the filmmaker, although he did take a step closer to more mainstream fare with action flick Free Fire, and signed on to helm the sequel to 2018's Tomb Raider reboot last year before parting ways with the project.
