Last week, Halloween Ends star Jamie Lee Curtis announced that the first trailer for the horror sequel would be released tomorrow, but after the footage leaked online earlier tonight, Universal has now debuted the official version a little earlier than scheduled!

The footage (mostly) matches the description of the CinemaCon teaser, beginning with what appears to be a recap of the events of John Carpenter's classic. However, this time when Michael Myers opens the door, Laurie Strode is waiting for him with a gun!

The trailer culminates with the mortal enemies coming face-to-face for what will almost certainly be the final time. We see "The Shape" fling Strode across the room, but she is ultimately able to gain the advantage, stabbing the relentless maniac through the hand.

Check out the trailer below, along with an updates synopsis which confirms the involvement of a mysterious new character named Corey.

After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before. Only one of them will survive.

Icon Jamie Lee Curtis returns for the last time as Laurie Strode, horror’s first ‘final girl’ and the role that launched Curtis’ career. Curtis has portrayed Laurie for more than four decades now, one of the longest actor-character pairings in cinema history. When the franchise relaunched in 2018, Halloween shattered box office records, becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing chapter and set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a horror film starring a woman.

“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”

The problem with this is that it's too reminiscent of the 2018 movie. "Laurie is back and she's facing her demons... again."

HK kind of killed the re-quel of this. They spent the better part of 2 movies emphasizing the fact that he's just a man, but the last 10 minutes completely debunked that notion. So now, Laurie is back, but fist fighting the literal embodiment of evil, who survives through the chaos that he causes? I don't know.

I'll still watch it, don't get me wrong, but I'm hoping this gets the simultaneous Digital release as I don't think it's worth a visit to the theaters, other than to support horror as a genre, especially bigger budget horror films.
