HALLOWEEN ENDS: Franchise Vets Scout Taylor-Compton & Danielle Harris Were NOT Big Fans Of The Movie

Scout Taylor-Compton and Danielle Harris, who both appeared in previous Halloween movies, have shared their thoughts on Halloween Ends, and it's fair to say they weren't entirely won over!

Even (or maybe especially) among hardcore fans of the iconic horror franchise, Halloween Ends proved to be a highly-divisive final chapter in David Gordon Green's sequel trilogy.

Most of the criticism seemed to stem from the introduction of a new character named Corey, who ended up being "possessed" by Michael Myers and going on a kill-crazy rampage of his own after overpowering The Shape (yes, really) and taking his mask.

It was a baffling decision, but may have worked if the execution was better. Alas, a rushed, messy, borderline nonsensical script ensured that what played out on screen was more head-scratching than nerve-shredding.

As it turns out, it wasn't only fans who took issue with the movie.

During the latest episode of their Talk Scary To Me podcast, Scout Taylor-Compton - who played Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie's Halloween remakes - and Danielle Harris - who played Jamie in Halloween 4 and 5, as well as Annie in Zombie's films - shared their thoughts on Halloween Ends, and it's fair to say they weren't exactly won over!

Here's their exchange (via Screen Rant).

Taylor-Compton: It was a really cool story if it was about a new serial killer and what it was like for someone to become a serial killer ... but then they just kind of threw Michael Myers in there, is what it seemed like to me

Harris: Where are the kills? Where's Michael? What the hell is going on?

Taylor-Compton: Michael was so weak. [Him not showing up until 40 minutes in was] so long for a Halloween Michael Myers movie, and the end, for him not to show up and not be strong as f—.I was mortified when he went into that tunnel and [Corey] almost beat his ass. I was mortified. I almost couldn't look, I was so traumatized about what was happening. [An old and weak Michael is] not the Michael Myers that we deserve. That is not it. That's not the last Michael Myers [movie]. I felt so bad for James [Jude Courtney]. Like, this is the end of your Michael Myers?

Harris: I much preferred [Corey's] kills to Michael Myers' kills. He's the only thing that kept me interested ... but it shouldn't have been a Halloween movie.

Taylor-Compton: I know how hard it is to make movies. I also don't want to offend anybody that made the movie. It's just our opinion. Now I get when people have opinions about my movies and your movies — I get it.

How do you guys feel about the ladies' comments and the movie itself? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.

Taylor-Comptom has it right in that first comment. It feels like they added in Michael after the fact when some exec told them the movie needed to have Michael in it.

Should have stuck to their guns & after that 1st appearance by Michael inside the walls be his only appearance, a moment to show how his evil is now infecting Corey. They can then play with it with whether that's actually what's happening, which they almost do when the dead kid's dad talks to Laurie about Corey and wonders if he's been evil the whole time or if the town has turned him that way over years of abuse.

Saying Michael died between movies inside those pipes would be anticlimactic for sure, especially after last movie's ending setting up for Laurie to go on the war path rather than waiting him to pop back out, but the movie already is anticlimactic in its portrayal of Myers.

@1stDalek - Personally, I feel like they should have set the Corey story up, but not let him start killing anyone yet... like you just get the idea that maybe Michael let him go for a reason, but he doesn't go completely bad yet.

Then add WAYYYYY more Michael. Still have a climactic battle, but one that takes a MUCH MUCH greater toll of Laurie's body in order to bring Michael down. This dude killed an entire mob of people!!! AFTER being shot multiple times, stabbed more times than I can count and stuck inside of a burning house. They made it perfectly clear that he's more than human, but then completely crap on that throughout the third film, only to have him get beat by a 60 year old woman?!? The dude killed a mob of healthy and armed 30-40 year olds... but gets beat in a fist fight with Laurie?! Nah. Not good enough.

Danielle Harris... yeah. She's a babe.

Totally agree with what they're saying though. I love that they swung for the fences on this one, but man did that movie suck
