Evil Dead Rise had its world premiere last night at the SXSW film festival, and the first reactions to Lee Cronin's "requel" have been very positive (as we know, that's hardly unusual).
Critics are hailing this latest instalment in the classic horror franchise as the goriest yet, and it sounds like it's also a lot more serious in tone than the original trilogy (the 2013 remake also dispensed with the humor, but made no sense whatsoever).
The only negative reactions we've seen so far seem to feel that the movie is overly cruel to its female characters (should they have been given a pass?), but overall, it sounds like Cronin has a blood-soaked winner on his hands.
Before you check out the Tweets, get a load of this guy! After the screening, one of the audience members shouted, "this movie sucks," before being told to "get the f*ck out" by Bruce Campbell.
