Creepy anthologies have been a mainstay in the horror genre for years, and have seen a recent surge of popularity. Though we may be long since the days of shows like Tales From the Crypt, Goosebumps, and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, between Black Mirror, Love, Death, & Robots, American Horror Stories, and Jordan Peele's new take on The Twilight Zone, this can be seen in television series, but it also takes place in movies such as the V/H/S titles.
Now, another filmmaker, Kevin R. Phipps, has decided to add to that extensive library with a new film of his titled Dr. Saville's Horror Show, which is said to channel Creepshow and Trick R' Treat. The film follows the horrifying host Dr. Saville as he tortures his final patient with three chilling tales of terror titled Consume, It's Complicated, and Break, awaiting horror heads.
The flick is, as mentioned, directed by Kevin R. Phipps, but joining him, the team behind the flick consists of writer and producer Craig W. Chenery, producers Kirk Levingar, Kevin R. Phipps, and Allen Valor, composer Bruce Bray, director of photography Shannon Dia, and lead special effects artist Tracy Lauren Locke.
Dr. Saville's Horror Show promises scares for those who seek them, and we've included the trailer and full synopsis below for those who are interested now that it is officially available on all digital platforms.
Horror has a new face. As the evil Dr. Saville tortures his latest victim, he weaves together three dark and twisted tales in this horror anthology with a simple warning: Be careful what you wish for!
“Consume” An unhappy bride-to-be takes drastic actions before her wedding day when she swallows a bioengineered tapeworm to help with her weight loss-goals. As her big day approaches, she discovers she may have ingested more than she bargained for.
“It’s Complicated” A picky and recently separated bachelor awakes one morning to find the woman of his dreams curled up on his kitchen floor in a puddle of black slime. As their whirlwind romance escalates, he discovers a dark side to his new lover, which causes him to rethink his views on dating and what he thought was love at first sight.
“Break” Barricaded in his home during an undead outbreak, a loving father struggles to keep his two children safe from harm. His valiant efforts to protect his family are hindered by a dwindling supply of food and weapons. However, the greatest threat to the family’s chances of survival lies closer than the horde of bloodthirsty zombies clawing their way in.
As the stories unfold and the torture becomes more unbearable, Michael finally confesses his wish to Dr. Saville and is confronted with a horrific revelation.
Allen Valor, Michael Hanelin, and Honda King feature in an assemblage of frighteningly fun segments.
Dr. Saville's Horror Show is now available to view on all digital platforms.
