David Cronenberg's CRIMES OF THE FUTURE Sets Official Release Date; Check Out Three New Stills

David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future has already gained some notoriety, and the "twisted" sci-fi horror film has finally been given an official release date. Check out three new promo stills.

"Surgery is the new sex."

We almost dread to think what that tagline could mean for the events we'll witness in David Cronenberg's already controversial Crimes of the Future, but maybe it has something to do with the movie's R-rating for "strong disturbing violent content and grisly images, graphic nudity and some language."

Neon has officially announced that the Videodrome director's next film will hit theatres in NY and LA on June 3 before expanding wide on June 10. We also have some new stills featuring the movie's three leads, which you can check out below.

The film is set "in a distant future where humans have evolved beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, altering their biological makeup. In this setting, a performance artist named Saul Tenser embraces Accelerated Evolution Syndrome, sprouting new and unexpected organs in his body. Removing those organs becomes a new kind of theater, one that earns a following, as well as the attention of the government."

It really doesn't get any more Cronenbergian than that!

Viggo Mortensen is set to play the lead, re-teaming with Cronenberg after starring in A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method. He'll be joined by Kristen Stewart, Léa Seydoux, Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar and Lihi Kornowski.
